Why is it called copforum?

What we are about

I called this publication copforum because I would like this to be a place where we can have discussions, by way of articles, about the law of our land.

What does that mean, exactly? Well, they way our society sees police officers has changed drastically with the effect of what I call our “video society.”

Everyone now has a video recorder/camera in their pocket. They use it to record police officers while they work. The rebound effect has caused departments all across the nation to evaluate their procedures and their actions. This is not a bad thing.

But bad things have happened, as well. And I want us to talk about them, and I’d like the chance to explain, from a law enforcement and legal perspective, what you see happening.

Many states are reevaluating who they put in custody, how long they spend there, and why they are sent into custody. Some states are releasing a certain class of offenders to relieve the explosive pressure n state budgets, prisons and jails, the effect of mass incarceration on society, and the families who have loved one in jail.

We will talk about the Constitutional amendments that affect our everyday life, and how the interpretation of those amendments has changes over the years.

For now, I will only be using the copforum for my own articles. However, I will respond to reasonable comments and questions in new articles: thus, the “forum” part of it. If someone wants to submit an article, I am happy to review it for appropriateness in my forum.

I also hope to receive questions from writers of police and legal fiction about procedures because I really like to help writers make their fiction more accurate.

I have many articles in development and hope to publish soon.

By the way, I am a former police officer, former prosecutor, former defense attorney, former private investigator and now work in private security as an armed protection specialist. I know a lot, seriously. But what I don’t know, I know how to find. Research, people I know, etc.,.
