Remembrance

Trapped in an abyss

Wielding a blade of fire.

Clashing with the perils of my mind,

And her unforgiving smile.

The maiden in black sings to me,

A song of macabre and desire.

Cursed for eternity

We duel in a melody,

Filled with vengeance,

And altered realities.

As we struggle to survive,

Heaven and Hell’s ire.

Then she takes my hand

And offers at last to let this end.

Yet with a thousand years of living,

And a soul weighed down by guilt and misgivings.

I take the shattered pieces of hope in my hand,

And find myself passing up the chance to sleep again.

While my mind may be lost

I still have my head.

And in between the slashes,

I’ll let the warmth of this war,

Take me back to memories of love,

That will never know death.
