What has come is bound to leave.

I woke up in the morning after a night of battle with the cold. This view is of the valley across from my hostel’s window on a vacation in Old Manali.

It seems as though trees have wholeheartedly embraced the showers of blessings from the sky. As if with the oncoming sun’s rays, the one thing that the branches of the trees want is to tightly hold on to the the snow. However, like everything, the snow also has to leave. Snow also departs watching the tree try hard to hold on through a firm clasp. Transience. The rule of nature. This snow needs to melt so there is space in the palms of the tree’s leaves and branches to hold on to the next time it snows. Just like this, life goes on. The snowflakes after reaching the maximum capacity of the tree branches, painfully shed to form another big bundle, this continues until the season ends. Only to snow again.

Blessings in life are such too. We pray for them. If we’re lucky others pray for us too. Like we did for snow along with the trees. When they’re answered, we embrace them with all our heart and grab onto all of it never to let go. But like the snowflakes, pretty much everything is moving towards its eventual death, towards departure from the born self. Snowflakes too, integrate only to eventually disintegrate and fall to the ground with a loud thud, separating from the trees where they were welcom to settle. However, nothing stays between the sun and the earth for very long, the journey to the beneath the earth’s surface might seem long, eventful and full of desires – so much it may distract from the ultimate truth – but nonetheless ends at one place, the ground. Kings, queens, slaves, cattle and even the cuckoobird, all fall to the same fate. This transient presence demands of us, living beings, irrespective of caste, creed and race to live fully and responsibly, revelling in the beauty that this space has to offer between the sun and earth, enjoying it thoroughly, respecting it and leaving it as pristine as we found it. There are no questions asked, none answered, except this fundamental truth – जो आया है, उसे जाना है
