Share a Meal

Ending world hunger is an essential issue for many individuals, no matter their background. However, not many of them act right away, sometimes not even at all, to make it come to a halt. The main reason for this may be that people do not know why there is hunger in many places around the world in the first place. The problem is not that food isn’t abundant, there is plenty of food for everyone, some people even have more than others. Thus, individuals must share with the rest of the population on the earth.

I believe the lack of food in some places should give people the initiative and the perseverance to do good in the world. It allows humans the opportunity to work towards change and do good deeds throughout the earth. Since a young age, people are taught to share with others and be caring, thoughtful, and compassionate. By putting these skills to work, just about anyone can feed the ones in need. For example, even teenagers and young adults can contribute as they may see fit.

Some steps individuals can take to ensure they are involved in this cause are collecting food for a local food pantry as well as preparing and serving food at a soup kitchen. By organizing food drives and donating items to those in need, the earth is one step closer to ending the necessity others have for food.

Many of the problems, nowadays, were not created to make people suffer, but because certain people do not want to put themselves in a bad situation, making them selfish and greedy. Because of being without food, one-third of the death of children throughout the world is caused due to hunger and malnutrition. Not only this, but their families can’t afford to buy enough food to nourish them. Lastly, there is plenty of food to feed all people. However, politics are more often the cause of the lack of food.

As in a similar situation during King Louis XVI’s rule over France, in which his subjects could not even afford a loaf of bread, people nowadays still suffer from neglect the government. Some families do not eat well often due to the ignorance of their political leaders. Although politics may not be the cause for hunger in these countries, they are the hungriest countries in the world. Such countries include Niger, Madagascar, and the Central African Republic.

However, hunger is not the only issue in the world for which people can work in unity to prevent from spreading. Many other causes such as these can only bring nations closer. Therefore, it is right to devote at least a small amount of our time to gather some extra food we may have and donate it to someone who needs it. After all, one can of food may be all it takes to save a child’s life and lead the world one step closer to overcoming the issue that is world hunger.
