Lawlessness

March 10, 2021 (Bible Devotional)

The law of God inspires us to love one another as ourselves and to love God supremely. Wherever we banish the law of God, we are banishing love. The principles of love are seen throughout the Bible. And Jesus clarifies to his disciples that love will be the distinctive factor to reveal Christianity on the last day. We may have all the prophecies yet without charity we are nothing. The purpose of the law is to teach us to love. And this principle is not nailed to the cross. We cannot make a profession of faith without genuine love for one another.

Lawlessness always leads to crime. Without the restraint of God to understand our boundaries toward one another, we will turn violent. Christ designs that children should respect their parents, and that husband and wife should faithful to one another. The decalogues teach us that we should take what belongs to our neighbors nor kill them. If we would but love one another, all covetousness and jealous spirit will vanish. Yet, when love is absent from we see abuse in the home circle and abroad.

On the last day, we will find brother against brother and parents against their children. This hatred is widespread because mankind has forsaken the law of God. Iniquity is all over the place. Nations are fighting against nations. And people are grouping themselves into confederacies. God is not thus honored. Christ teachings us to care for one another, to clothe and hungry, and visit the fatherless. Yet, we have become so heartless that we even kill one another for no apparent reason. We allow rage and anger to take over instead of tenderness and compassion.

Yet, this is only the beginning of the end. Mankind will become less sympathetic and more heartless. Iniquity will become so widespread that we will stop considering them as news. Crime and violence will become so widespread that we will not even feel for those who are hurt. People will lose their life, and we will continue with our daily activities. The last days will produce cold hearts and robotic humans. And the sad part is that iniquity will continue to rise. Hatred will lead to more hatred until the heart of humanity become more frozen than the arctic.
